We have been taking advantage of the excellent insulating and support properties of the MD-60 product for use in our high volume thermoset molding operation. Pyropel has outperformed the polyesther based insulation with half the thickness. We have found that because it does not 'burn out' over time we have additional replacement cost savings, and do not have to deal with dimensional instability when the insulation collapses under continuous press tonnage.

We have used it and found it very satifactory.

I am the mold engineer at our solid tire manufacturing facility. We have been using 1/4" Pyropel mold insulation starting nearly 2 years ago on some of our injection molds. The results are quite satisfying. Our molds in the beginning were operating @ 315 degrees. They are now only warm to the touch when covered with Pyropel. We have since been able to reduce steam pressure at the presses from 150# to an average 120#. Cure times have actually been shortened due, partially, to the improved temperature profile on the molds.
